Visiting the Church of the Latter Day Saints

Since we have been here in Nashville we have attended a Catholic Church, a Church of Christ, and finally today we attended a service of the Latter Day Saints, specifically the Green Hills Ward which is mainly young, single adults (they are all about hooking the young 'uns up).
<<Me and Nathan outside of Church of the LDS>>

The first part of the service consisted of a quick word from the pastor (not sure of the terminology) and was followed by brief testimonies from the congregation. The second part of the service (again, not sure of the terminology) we attended an hour long Sunday School lesson on the book of Judges.  Lastly the men and the women were separated into another Sunday School type lesson, the women's being called "The Relief Society".  All in all it was an interesting experience and although I do not believe in Joseph Smith's golden tablets and other such tenants of the Mormon faith, I think a lot of Christians could learn from both the Mormon faith and this Ward in particular.  A majority of the people came up and not only introduced themselves but took down our information, making us feel so welcome.  The testimonies from those who had joined the church made me realize how involved those of the Mormon faith are in their communities and how family oriented they are.  One particular Mormon (though not a part of the Ward we visited) who inspires people everyday, including both Rachel and myself is Mrs. Neilson who maintains a blog. I would recommend checking it out if you get the chance; nieniedialogues.blogspot.com

  1. Megan Kelly, I am liking that dress! Hottie with a body! Must be all that Nashville trekking, eh?
Did you notice a lot of peers your age were Elders in the Mormon faith? A boy I grew up with recently came back from his 2 year mission (I think most Mormons do this to be accepted into the Mormon church) and he is now an elder. Which is kinda cool/makes me feel like a slacker.
    Sincerely,

  2. @Smeagol; Thanks, I like it too haha. And I didn't notice too many actually elderly elders but I figured it was the ward for young singles anyways...The main thing I noticed was all the men carrying babies around and playing with them, hmmm you don't see that in Christian churches!
