<<Q: What do you call the queue outside the Hardrock?>>
Just kicking around and having fun right now going to a bunch of different concerts. First things first, I believe congratulations are in order for the lucky U.S. soccer team and especially to Clint Dempsey for his goal. We'll be seeing if Germany is still cup worthy later today.

Last night we went to the Hardrock Cafe to see someone named James Otto (I don't know him but Rachel is/was a fan) but after waiting 2 hrs surrounded by middle aged women all wearing t-shirts with his giant face on the front, we had to further endure 2 opening bands-Frankie Ballard and the JaneDear Girls. Frankie was a little over the top with incessant licks every few minutes and had an odd raccoon tail hanging out of his pants, weird. The JaneDear Girls were fun but didn't really quite understand what they were doing, the most bland song lyrics, and too many instruments to actually make a cohesive sound. We recognized one of the main singers, however, from our Sunday School class at the Church of the LDS. Finally James Otto came on and played for an approximate 15 minutes before suddenly peacing out. I suspect it was because they couldn't get the sound right and things kept squeaking but nonetheless he was a diva and so not worth my time. Being front row at a concert I kind of wish it had been a little more exciting but the older lady behind me was having fun shaking it.

The other day we went to the Riverfront Stage which is a free venue as well. There we saw Rodney Atkins and later, Craig Morgan. Country stars are the most respectable artists sometimes in that Rodney Atkins had his son come out on stage and bear hugged him after a song written about him. Then Craig Morgan gave thanks to God, played amazing grace, and then played a song or two for the servicemen of our country. Definitely people worthy of some respect.

I like the name "JaneDear"
ReplyDeleteI also suspect (but have no proof) that you are exaggerating about these country stars in order to con the little people stuck in rochester, ny (such as myself) into listening to said music. I stand by rock-n-roll...for now.
You do realize that when you talk trash about people it always gets back them. Ever heard of Google Alert? It's not very classy of you to bad mouth nice people just so you can come off sounding like some kind of tabloid columnist that couldn't even get published in a trashy rag. People like you get online and think they can say whatever they want and it's totally OK. I guess better online than in the back of the room during the relief society lesson. Whatever makes you feel better about yourself when you're sitting in Sunday school.
ReplyDeletePS
Don't forget your visiting teaching this month :0
@Anonymous: I'm sorry if you took offense to the things I said but it's my opinion and I'm entitled to it.
ReplyDeleteWoah, seriously Anonymous? Well, seeing as you set a Google Alert to the band name - I'm assuming you're part of the band. Which makes your comment that much more hilarious. Ya know what I don't think is classy? A band trashing an audience member just because they weren't feeling the music. Ever heard of constructive criticism? "People like you get online and think they can say whatever they want and it's totally OK" - you're talking about yourself, right Mr. Anonymous? Your comment is absurd and makes me lose all respect for your band. This is a BLOG on the INTERNET. Where people can state their opinions - yes, even opinions that don't bode well for your music. Get a grip, work on your music, and learn from the criticism.
ReplyDeleteHeavens to betsey. A real life internet scandal.
ReplyDeleteWhat are you, Anonymous, some sort of blog police? And it's okay for YOU to get on-line and do exactly what you accused Megan of doing...ANONYMOUSLY? The world can do without cowards like you. Do what you need to grow up.
ReplyDeleteMegan, keep being beautiful.
