National Trail Day (following National Doughnut Day of course)

As we were walking across Vanderbilt University's campus to get to Borders, a favorite haunt, we passed a poster advertising a free trip to a nature park.  Two days later we sign up for this trip which more specifically entails trail building at Beaman Park.  Today we jumped in a 12-seater van and drove 30 minutes to the park where, as soon as I stepped out, felt like I was back at Baltimore Woods (the nature center I worked at last summer).

Spent National Trail Day working on a boardwalk to allow handicapables some degree of access to the park.  The team leader, Nancy, did not like Jen and her less than desirable drill skills but absolutely loved me and my electric saw work haha.  The scariest part of the trip was when Nancy was going through the introduction speech and said the classic, "watch out for ticks" but in New York it's just something you say to keep an eye out for.  In this park, I kid you not, they were literally all over us.  For the rest of the trip if anything went wrong I blamed it on ticks because they are the creepers of nature and I do not like them.  Also, there are little scorpions who reside in Tennessee as well, one of which I witnessed!  Muahaha so many creepy crawlers.
