Two posts today because I had to make up for yesterday. Attended the 11:00 service at Cathedral of the Incarnation which was a Catholic church. The building was beautiful and the people seemed friendly enough. The service was on Pentecost and I think I made it through without looking like a heathen fool. But seriously, the Catholic traditions are intriguing but I'm not sure it's exactly for me. I haven't found a Christian church that isn't Baptist, Catholic, Methodist, Episcopal, or African Methodist. Maybe something will turn up but in the meantime I believe I'll be attending the Incarnation again. We're planning on going to a social tomorrow night on a Theology of the Body series to get to know the people a bit better.
On the way home we stopped at an Arby's and grabbed a quick lunch. Reached home and realized we made it through the whole trip without getting lost. Yay us. I believe that is called progress, right? As we sat at home for a while we realized we had air conditioning (thank the Lord!) but the weirdest part is that our housemate doesn't agree with us when we say it's hot. One of his friends stopped by and reminded us that this is only may. OK, so perhaps I uh maybe did not check the weather for more than a week ahead of time buuut I'm slightly worried about how much a person can sweat before they become a raisin on the sidewalk because that might be me, just saying.
Later decided to walk to the Farmer's Market and wore good walking shoes this time. We got halfway there and lost confidence in our directions so we turned back (turns out we were halfway there but oh well, another day then) and walked down Broadway instead. Witnessed a wedding photograph on the terrace of the Union Station, saw a very slight bit of flood damage by the river, and stopped at a bar called The Second Fiddle. A small band was playing who were kind of fun but the bar itself was cool (temperature) and not too crowded. Grabbed a bud light and talked with Rach for a bit, a great time in all and 5 miles of walking. At this rate we'll be in super fit shape when we get back to NY.
Returned to the house and ate Spaghetti for dinner. The refrigerator is fixed/temporarily replaced. Got to know our housemate a bit better. Apparently he participates in something called "capoeira" or rather Brazilian fight dancing. The youtube videos are pretty interesting if you're interested in learning more. Anyways, it was another tiring day but a lot better than yesterday. Hopefully tomorrow is just as good.
You're not 21 yet...?

ReplyDelete@Mark, well I made it through the first service without looking too much like a fool. But I might take you up on that! Also, of the few channels we get on our TV the jc network is one of them...get it?
