Poolside

Yesterday we intended to go hiking at a place called Short Springs but the weather report consisted of thunderstorms for the afternoon so we decided not to go yet.  We still intend to go at some point just not now.  Instead of hiking we visited Jen Littman, a fellow student of Rachel's at S.U. who lives in an apartment complex up the road.  Interestingly the apartments have a pool on the roof so we spent the greater part of the day at a roof pool.  The neighboring apartment building is supposedly where Taylor Swift stays when she is in Nashville but right now she's in Australia on tour.  Even if she was home I think she'd be a major creeper sitting out on her balcony staring down at this little pool haha so no big deal.  Me, being my scatterbrained self, did not think to put sunscreen on and as such received quite the sunburn, oh well.

Today We Went to Greece

I got bored of Nashville so I took some time to rethink my direction in life and ended up in Greece to visit the Parthenon.  Lots of tourists but a beautiful scenic trip.
Haha just kidding, it's actually Centennial Park in Nashville with a replica of the Parthenon.  Apparently Carrie Underwood goes running there but we went in the afternoon so instead of Carrie I met about two wedding parties, a stray dog, rogue squirrels, and even took other peoples' family photos without them knowing, it was awesome.  Didn't spend the $$ to get inside the Parthenon replica because I figure when I reach the real one someday it would be worth it to spend the $$ there.  Either way the park was beautiful and the weather was beautiful and I'm not sure if it's because it's cooling down or because we're acclimating to the temperatures here but both would be awesome.

It Finally Rained in Tennessee

After days of murderous heat it finally rained enough to cool down the thermometer.  Our roommate, Michael, spent the day taking his preliminary test which is prerequisite to determine if he can continue on to a PhD but according to him it didn't go too well.  In the case of tests though, it seems that we always tend to believe we did worse than we really did so here's hoping it's one of those moments.
<<Me and our housemate, Michael>>

Successfully rode the bus to a movie theater and watched the recently released Sex and the City 2 which was an interesting spin on the amazing story lines from the first one.  I won't give anything away in case some people still plan on going out to see it but it was a fun time nonetheless.  The problem with bus schedules is that usually it's only the departure time that I notice so after the movies it was pure chance/luck/providence that the bus was just chilling out at the bus stop when we arrived.  That experience should be a part of the blog, 1000 Awesome Things because it was just one of those feel good moments.  The theater itself was an interesting building, a sort of retro feel with neon lights and pastel stucco and the actual theater room had strange Christmas light portraits on the walls adjacent to the screen.
As for last night, that was a whole other adventure.  Went out to check out the local bar, The Tin Roof, but as it was only a Thursday night and being a typical sports bar there were only older people and it wasn't too full.  The walk there was much more fun because in country music the song writers are still revered as the geniuses (geniusi?) that there are with signs lining the streets congratulating them.  There was also a unique sculpture with a Greek Olympian feel but sadly my camera battery was running low so no pictures of that.  Stopped at Legends Corner again but the bands had nothing on the Corbette Jackson Band.

Hillsboro Village

Hillsboro Village is a quaint, little part of Nashville with little shops and non-tourist people.  Guess we didn't quite fit in with our cameras pointing every which way.  We started out walking to Amylase Entertainment, a house office on Music Row where Rachel will be working next week.  After getting a bit lost by one or two streets we finally found it.  Later, we continued on to Hillsboro Village and then found our way home.  Planning on going out again in a bit to some other interesting shops and a few bookstores.  I'm just hoping that all this walking pays off in the end of the summer with an impressive time on the Oak Tree Hill race back in Geneseo.

Well turns out it wasn't just chilling in someone's front lawn, it's an art gallery called The Front Porch.  The exhibit was on Native North American culture specifically connected to Choctaw, Ojibwe, Zapotec, Cherokee (homeland was TN), Kiowa, Wichita, and Chickasaw tribes.>>
