Baby, it's Cold Outside

After shoveling the driveway multiple times and the rooftop once, I thought I was pretty much done with snow as an activity.  Especially since I was using a "push" shovel on the driveway which is not meant for shoveling at all but just to push it out of the way.  Why we have this pathetic 'shovel' is beyond my comprehension and made the driveway seem 10 miles long!  Grrr. Now that I am done complaining about the snow, I would like to celebrate it because it means...SNOWBOARDING and SKIIING!!!
<<Getting ready for the great outdoors with my yarn-mohawk-hat, ironic Jersey Shore sweatshirt, and my Lime Green coat.  Yes, Lime Green should always be capitalized.>>

<<Apparently one should never comment on the depressed looks of the rental guy or he'll give you a board like this!>>

<<Yes, this is indeed what I had to look at the whole day.  We named him Linguardo.>>

<<My sister Caitlin was up from Binghamton because she participates in a program called 'Arise' that helps people with disabilities learn to skii.  The group was very welcoming and the kids/adults really seemed to enjoy themselves>>

<<It was Sarah's first time on the slopes! Lots of fun riiiight? >>

<<Despite being a seasoned snowboarder, I managed to fall off the lift when it came to pick up me, Caitlin and Sarah.  So then when I stood back up I missed the next chair with 2 cute boys aaaand then I finally got a chair because they stopped the whole lift just for me.  It was really very graceful.>>

<<*sniff sniff* riding up without me>>

<<Spent the whole day on the slopes, see? It's night time!>>

The conditions were fantastic and I met so many interesting, new people on the lift including a law student from SU, a lady who does heart ultrasounds, and a man who had lost his children somewhere.  I'm not sure if you're supposed to interview the person you ride up the lift with but I like to do it anyways.  Sarah kept up a good spirit even though the process of falling and getting back up can be frustrating as a day-long endeavor.  You get 'em girl!  As for me, I kept it awkwardly suave as always.

Out on the Town

Happy New Year's everyone! I don't know about you but I would like to designate 2011 as the year of possibilities.  Hope renewed, mind rejuvenated, and a heart wide open.  This New Year's I ventured out on the city of Syracuse with friends to celebrate 2011 happening.  Which, in retrospect, is a weird celebration in general.  Nevermind, 'tis time to see the pictures!

We started out at wine bar called Bittersweet which was really a cute place.  Half the bar consisted of older folk and then our half had the college students.  Though the bartender might've jipped us a few bucks, it was really a classy, fun place to go.  My friend Kim won a free bottle of wine in the raffle and we all split it.

<<Let's get this party started!>>

<<(5 seconds later) Alright, we're done now. >>

<<Being goofy at the bar>>

After celebrating midnight at Bittersweet wine bar, we decided to hit up the other bars.  I'm not quite sure of their names because I never go out in Syracuse but each place was ridiculous in its own right.  The first bar we went to had a large number of furniture pieces in different animal prints.
<<Me and Jen in a leopard chair. For the record, that's water in my hand.  Dancing is a bit of a workout, especially my kind of dancing>>

<<What'd I tell ya, dancing!>>

<<In my head I dance like Beyonce but apparently that's not what happens>>

The 2nd bar had a weird joker statue that we stood around for a while but it creeped me out so I walked around and found some people to play Jenga with.  Unfortunately I don't think we were the same level of happy because they didn't seem to understand the concept of Jenga.  The big question is, why was there a box of Jenga pieces sitting on a coffee table at the bar?..and why was I attempting to play it?  We shall never know.  Unfortunately I don't have any more photos of the night but it was so much fun and it was a pretty much perfect New Year's.

Holiday Hellos

Each year after Christmas my family visits my Aunt Carol and my Aunt Nancy (my dad's sisters).  They are both super sweet and amazing.  We try not to break anything when we visit because my Aunt Carol has nice things but sometimes things just happen, though thankfully not this year!

<<Yes, I've been told this might be too much Kelly for one picture but I like to think of it as, "Weee're Heeereee!">>

<<My dad and his sisters, awww>>

<<At this point I think everyone was tired of smiling while my dad figured out his new camera>>

<<Aunt Nancy and Neil>>

<<Aunt Carol and Paul>>

<<Sarah attempting to do homework while Aunt Carol's cat carried out guerrilla warfare from behind the couch>>

 <<Molly and Aunt Nancy>>

<<The traditional giant bowl of amazesome cookies and sweets, thank you Aunt Carol>>

<<We had to leave Mandy at home but I thought I'd include a picture of her adorkable face anyways>>

All these pictures are courtesy of my dad and my little sister Sarah, apparently you have to charge batteries if you want your camera to work, who knew?  Anyways, since Sarah got the pictures up online for us all, she can sign us off.

Christmas Morning

Christmas morning is always similar-- to an extent-- every year.  The family always sits in the living room (we refer to it as the 'dance room' because it used to have stereo equipment and a piano and the other living room is referred to as the T.V. room because...) and unwraps presents for a while until we get hungry.  Some years people get up super early because they either ate too much sugar the night before or are younger.  After the year when my brother Paul woke up first and proceeded to punch my doll in the face multiple times before I got there I have tried not to be one of the late risers on this occasion.  This year everyone took their time unwrapping everything so it probably took about 2 hours to get through the presents.  Once that was done my parents insisted on going around and having each person show what they got.  In the words of my little brother Neil, "I don't think I've ever had such a productive Christmas"
<<The lovely 'dance room' with SO MANY PRESENTS!!!>>

<<She got a singing Hershey Kiss candy jar which was very difficult to wrap, I might add, because it kept singing after the paper was all taped>>

<<Me and my 100 cookie cutters. Paul was having a moment of pure jealously, I can tell>>

 <<Alright, now he's happy>>

<<Happy happy joy joy. A pink apron! I can tell Neil is jealous here too>>

<<My mom looks like she's having so much fun--and I'm not even being sarcastic!>>

<<Mandy got a huge chewbone which she kept running through the house with and taking out people's shins and dropping on people's feet and growling when we tried to touch it>>

<<Sarah got the coolest glasses ever! She kept jumping into pictures with them to my dad's dismay>>

Yes, a very productive Christmas indeed Neil.  There was so much good will among the many siblings, a Christmas miracle itself!  I hope everyone enjoyed their respective holidays, Merry belated Christmas.  At the time of this post, there will only be 330 days, 10 hours, and 37 minutes until the next one!

Holiday Recap

Whoa, where have I been?  Where to start?!  I had so many amazing adventures over Winter Break and can't wait to share them all.  My internet at home goes in and out so I didn't want to risk an entire post disappearing before I could publish it.  Now that the FINAL semester here at college has begun, I feel like I can expound upon these glorious tales of sheer ridiculousity and let the creativity flow.  Thus I will begin posting as if the adventure has just occurred.
